About Me:
My vocals/saxophone/flute/piano can be heard on an album released in 2008 entitled "I Am Not Resigned". This CD features one of Kate Sullivan's poems called "Love is the Tonic"(featured on WFMU radio 91.1 in New York City http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/28833) "Love is the Tonic" was produced by Tony Scherr and can be heard for free at www.KateSullivan.com (press the music button). In 2009 I was featured on Nico Vorkapichs' composition "The Image Klank" on a compilation called "The Future of the Past" http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Future-Of-The-Past/release/1692359. Also in 2009 I was featured on Delveks' third album entitled "Dec-O-Dents". It is available for purchase at Amazon.com. In 2007 I released two albums of original music. "POEMS by FRED SLAVEN / MUSIC by JOE MONTINI" and "MUSIC CONCRETE". All my albums are free and can be sent to you if you contact me with your address at www.joemontini.com/contact.htm. My flute playing can be heard on Kyle Kevorkian McCanns' "While We're Young"(2005) and Ken Sorkins' The Twenty Percent Tippers "Chinese Poem /Year One"(2008) and "Another Satisfied Customer"(2005). "While We're Young", also produced by Tony Scherr, is available on www.cdbaby.com/cd/kkmccann and the 20%Tippers albums can be obtained for free at www.Tippersmusic.com.. In 1980 I performed at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City with jazz trumpet legend Dizzy Gillespie with the McDonalds All Star Tri-State big band. This performance on national television was part of the MERV GRIFFIN show. This experience inspired me to continue studying music and subsequently led to obtaining a masters degree in saxophone performance from Manhattan School of Music. I play saxophone in the group "The Royal Scam" which is the ultimate Steely Dan tribute band. Please go to www.RoyalScam.com to find out where we are performing.
